The Greene County High School class of 2018 will host the junior-senior prom Saturday, April 8, with a theme “A Night in the Big Apple.”
The public is invited to view the New York City decorations at the Wild Rose Event Center Saturday, April 8, from 4 to 5 pm. This is free to all and allows pictures to be taken before the evening’s festivities begin.
Decorations at the Event Center will include uplighting along the walls, centerpieces with actual street signs identifying their tables, a city scape and skyline, a sign in the front saying “Now Showing: A Night in the Big Apple,” and the Brooklyn Bridge. Just inside the Greene Room, fabric-covered columns lit with white lights from the inside will accent the opening to the banquet hall. Six-foot tall letters with lots of bling will spell out “PROM” and will stand along one wall.
At the grand march the students will take “A Walk Through Time Square” from 5:30 to 6 pm. at the Greene County courthouse. Students will start the grand march on the south side of the courthouse and walk down the sidewalk by the Bell Tower and then return to their vehicles. In case of inclement weather, the grand march will be at the Greene County Community Center.
Prom will end at 11:30 pm with students exiting the parking lot to go south on Highway 4 with the assistance of our police officers. Students must be at the after prom party at the middle school by midnight.
